Year 1-Summer 2
Welcome back to the Summer Term.
P.E.
This half term we will be focusing on Games. We will be learning to jump, run,throw and agility. We will also be focusing on fairness and respect.
Our PE day is Friday. On this day please come into school with your PE kit on and a water bottle.
Reading
The children will have daily phonics lessons in the mornings, during these lessons they will also read a book matched to their phonics lessons.
The children’s reading books sent home will match their phonics level. Their reading log should be completed at home and their book bag should be brought in every day. Children should be reading 3 times a week at home.
Reading logs will be checked every Monday.
Homework
Homework will be sent out on Dojo every Monday. This will consist of a video from Ruth Miskin's portal and will match the sound they have been learning in Phonics that week. They will also be given an activity relating to the learnig they have done that week.
English
We will be reading 'The Last Wolf' by Mini Grey. We will be writing hunting story sentences and recipe sentences.
Math
This half term we will be looking at place value within 100, money and time.
Science
We will be using 'Developing Experts' to explore animals, we will identify and name a variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. They learn how to identify and name a variety of common animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. And finally, they learn how to describe and compare the structure of a variety of common animals.
